She had saline implants inserted endoscopically through her arm pits and underneath her pectoral muscle such that she could still breast feed in the future (she was only 24 when she got the implants). She was advised to go in every 5 years to get them checked and that she would probably have to get them replaced every 10-20 years so as to prevent rupture. Her breasts feel and look very natural. She had hers done by Elof Erikkson at Brigham and Women's.

I know you've had a consult at MGH, but about 5 years ago I used to work at Brigham and Women's and they were starting to do reconstructive breast surgery using tissue from other areas of the body and not implants. It might be worth looking into as another option.

Best of luck.
KateAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-54630987360282077.post-83891675098502546022011-07-11T09:37:04.775-04:002011-07-11T09:37:04.775-04:00Talk about a crappy decision to have to make. So much information and decisions to make. ...Wow! So much information and decisions to make. As you point out so eloquently, ultimately despite the research and others' experience, you have to do what feels right to you. No personal experience to offer, but always willing to lend an ear.

Jean
xoAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
